Blood in Cat StoolBlood in cat stool is never a fun thing to see. Whenever your little member of the family has this ailment, you tend to go crazy with fear. However, there are a degree of blood that needs to be present if you are going to be afraid. If the blood is a little bit, this is normal in young kittens and common if an older cat changes diet. But if the blood is a lot you need to contact you veterinarian right away. There might be a chance that you cat has Hematochezia. This is very common in cats especially. Here are a few tips to help you along when you see blood in your cat’s stool:

1. Bland diet, rich in fiber- Do not buy your cat the commercial food to your cat. Simple cat food to your cat that is rich in fiber is the best for that ball of fluff. When you do this, it may take a couple of days, but you should see improvement in your cat’s stool. There is nothing wrong with giving your cat a treat, just make it a healthy one.

2. Refrain from feeding your cat scraps- Every pet owner does this from time to time to add the cat into part of the family. However, you are killing your cat when you do this. A cat’s digestive system is not able to properly process human food. Avoiding giving scraps to your cat will improve the blood in the stool and have it not return. A cat is fine from not eating your scraps that fall off the table.

3. Get a de-worming shot for your cat- When your cat has a de-worming shot; it protects it from the different parasites when they get an infection. Whenever you give the de-worming vaccination, you are protecting your cat. This is very important when blood shows up in their stool. You should see recovery in a couple of days.

Taking care of your cat is a very important thing to do. Whenever your children or loved one gets an infection, you rush into the doctor’s office. The same should be for your cat. It is a member of your family but needs to be taken care of differently. When blood appears in your cat’s stool, be cautious and always consult your veterinarian if the blood continues. An unhealthy cat is not a happy cat. Take care of your cat and you won’t have to worry about anything.
